#4 Dejan Godec will be defending the pond in 2022

Interviews were made in a collaboration with Enaa and Lenovo Slovenija.

GH: So far, you have pulled out 110 flags to your opponents, which puts you in third place in the history of our club. Do you think you can overtake the captain of the defense, Aljoša Kousa, who is in first place after the flags were pulled out in the upcoming season?

Our Aljoša is definitely one of the most experienced Slovenians in this sport, so I think it will be challenging to catch up or even overtake him on our scale according to the drawn flags. But I will do everything to keep my number rising sharply. Everything else will be shown by time.

GH: This will be your third season in flag football. How do you assess your progress, the team progress, and the progress of the entire organization?

We progress from training to training, from match to match, from season to season. Both me personally and the whole team. We already showed colossal progress last year and were a surprise for many of the seasons with good performances and second place after regular work. Unfortunately, in the end, we ran out of a bit of luck and experience for a better final ranking in the playoffs. After all, we are still a young team, and we will have many more opportunities to prove ourselves in the future. Organizationally, we showed how to create a system that works out of nothing. We can be an example to many clubs.

GH: Which match in the 2021 season did you remember the most and why? Could you point out any moment where your great game weighed and turned the scales in favor of your team?

The second match against the national champions Kranjski jazbeci will stay with me forever. Where we showed a real fighting game, left our hearts on the field, and, in the end, also won. The feelings at the time were indescribable. I showed quite a few good performances last season and locked up the first defensive line. I wouldn't point out any matches. We all worked hard for the results.

GH: Despite your outstanding performance against the Pribram Bobcats at the Errea Bowl, where you collected 2 tackles and an intercepted pass, the team lost by just one point. How did you experience that defeat, and how satisfied were you with your game?

Definitely one of the most brutal matches I've played so far. You could say I was also one of the culprits for the end result. In one of their attacks in the second half, I didn't react the best and wasted the opportunity for the second intercepted pass. That's when they also reached a touchdown. Defeats are a part of life, and we learn from mistakes.

GH: What are your acting plans for the 2022 season, and what are your personal goals outside of turf?

I want to show even more than last year and help the team reach the coveted laurels in the SFFL. In my opinion, 2022 is a turning point. Quite a few changes are expected, even outside the grass lawns. About that some other time.
