Frogs lost in the thriller against Bobcats

We played the fifth match of the tournament against the later finalists, Příbram Bobcats. The Czechs came to the Errea bowl with the desire to reach for the highest rankings, which they also succeeded in doing. In the derby of the day, the match that decided the passenger to the finals, we lost by only 1 point. The tense game, full of twists and turns and flags thrown (probably the most flags in the tournament), belonged to the "guests" from Pribram. Although the Bobcats players came with only nine players, they played against us with only six players (injuries).

How important in flag football are the extra points (point-afters) our attack saw in the match against the Czechs. Of the three attempts, we did not score a single extra point, which the game result knew at the end of the game. A few heavy legs and a tense atmosphere were evident in all the attempts of our attack. # 9 Darko Mićić passed for 3 TDs, threw an intercepted pass, and Tomaš Bučil (the best blitzer of the tournament) pulled out his flag twice before the throw-in. One TD each was caught by # 10 Aleks Bordon, # 20 Klemen Repnik and # 23 Žan Ocvirk. The Czechs also successfully stopped our running game.

The defence did everything in their power in that match. # 3 Bor Lenarčič had two intercepted passes and three tackles, # 4 Dejan Godec 2 tackles and an intercepted pass, # 25 Žiga Strgar 6 tackles, # 31 Aljoša Kous 3 tackles, 1 intercepted pass and a pass deflection, # 32 Blaž Hrušovar but he had two sacks.

Maybe the game could have changed if # 31 Aljoša Kous had not committed a four down Pass interference penalty over the biggest player of the tournament, which was an automatic first attempt from 2 yards in oursendzone. In the end, the attacking players had the ball in their hands; 38 seconds before the end, they were 8 yards from the opponent, for which they ran out of time. It was an exciting match, and the boys deservedly took the victory from Pribram Bobcats.
