Adria Bowl IV in Poreč: Grit, Rain, and Rising Flag Football Talent on Display

Poreč, Croatia – April 12–13, 2025
This past weekend, Poreč transformed into the flag football capital of Central Europe as 60 teams across three divisions kicked off AB IV. Hosted over two competitive days, teams were split into the classic IFAF format (2x20 minutes) and the faster-paced Leisure division (2x15 minutes).

From the first whistle on Saturday morning to the final plays on a rain-soaked Sunday afternoon, the field became a proving ground for talent, resilience, and the will to win.

MVP Elite Division ladies: Tia Govejšek

Elite Division: Munich Stands Tall in the Storm

With the clouds rolling in and the stakes high, the Elite Division final brought the intensity to another level. In what turned into a wet and physical showdown, Munich Spatzen edged out the Celtic Tigers from Ireland, claiming the top podium spot. Munich’s adaptability in the rain, clean execution, and clutch plays proved to be the winning combination.

Meanwhile, the bronze medal game was a familiar matchup for Slovenian fans. A replay of last year's SFFL final saw Kranjski Jazbeci take on Velenje Black Miners—this time with a different result. Jazbeci grabbed their first win of the season in a decisive and energetic performance.

Women’s Division: Slovenian Dominance and Czech Grit

It was a proud weekend for the Slovenian national women’s team, who topped the podium after defeating Vinnytsia Wolves from Ukraine in a well-fought final. Their strong teamwork, sharp route-running, and disciplined defense proved too much for their opponents.

The third-place match saw Pribram Bobcats Ladies from the Czech Republic lost against Alicante Sharks from Spain. The Sharks demonstrated depth, good positional awareness, and calm under pressure to round out the medals.

Emerging Talent and What’s Ahead

Despite Sunday’s relentless rain, games remained intense. Many matchups could have swung either way, but what stood out beyond the scores was individual brilliance at key positions—particularly from rising quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive backs.

Several of these players are now on the radar for national team selections ahead of the European Championship in Paris this September. With only 12 roster spots available per team—and the LA28 Olympic format trimming that number to 10—the pressure is on. It’s no longer just about skill. Training regimens, nutrition, mental preparation, and recovery are now deciding factors for staying on top.

Recovery After a Two-Day Grind

Two days of back-to-back competition leave the body asking for more than just rest. Smart recovery routines—foam rolling, compression, and active stretching—are now standard for athletes serious about longevity.

For the Ljubljana FrogsGEARXPRO compression leggings have become a staple in the recovery process. With proven support and muscle relief, they’re more than gear—they’re a tool.

Final Thoughts

AB IV didn’t just serve up highlights. It brought perspective. As the sport evolves and narrows its margins—especially with Olympic inclusion on the horizon—the difference between good and great becomes microscopic.

What we saw in Poreč was more than competition. It was a reminder that every rep, every adjustment, every recovery choice counts.
