Euro Flag Football Championship 2025: Ljubljana Frogs’ Early Bird Top 10 Predictions

The Euro Flag Football European championship 2025 is shaping up to be the most exciting European championship yet, with 20-24 teams expected to compete, including newcomers like Portugal, Norway, Croatia, and Serbia (maybe even Slovenia after a long time). With 6 spots up for grabs for the WC26, the mens competition will be fierce.

Note: The player names mentioned are not official, as trials and roster selection are still in development. The names highlighted got into our top 5 lists based on WC24 performance, while the rest of our predictions and analyses represent our own opinions. As the European football leauge season is going to end before the EC25 in Paris we can expect the best players in the national teams.

Here’s our early bird top 10 predictions for the men’s division, Ljubljana Frogs style:

1. France: Les Bleus are poised to dominate on home turf. The QBs are still are not determined but Sabatino - Riquin duo can happened again and will be lead a powerhouse team under coach Alexander Laruel’s guidance.  Despite losing DC Said Salazar to Germany, their defense remains formidable with Harrison, Darmana, Laviolette, and Lemoine. Watch out for rising star Lominet in offense. Why France at first place? Home advantage, strong defense and offense playcalling.

2. Italy: The Azzurri are coming in hot with Luke Zahradka at the helm and the explosive Jordan Bouah. A possible Papale comeback could further boost their chances. Their defense is bolstered by the emerging talent Lattoracca. With their strong showing at the World Games, Italy is a serious contender. If they cannot bring the best players on their roster they can easily drop out of top 6 spots.

3. Austria: The methodical Austrians, silver medalists at WC24 in Lahti, are a force to be reckoned with. QB Felix Wasshuber’s clock management skills are unparalleled, and his receivers are reliable. The experienced Wolf brothers bring stability to the defense, but Bouah’s potential presence on Italy’s roster edges Austria to third.

4. Germany: The former European champions are eyeing a comeback. With a coaching change bringing Said Salazar on board, expect a revamped playing style. The German EFL players’ participation is a massive boost, especially in the DB room. Keep an eye on Beni Klever and EC23 MVP Fabian Achenbach, who should be in peak form.

5. Denmark: The Danish squad is riding high after a strong WC24 performance. Their “rookie” QB (also a national tackle player) returns with more experience. Watch for Holmstrup and Ebsensen in the national colors. If Ermler recovers from his shoulder injury in time, Denmark could go all the way. Safety Niklas Dybry Johansen remains a key player if healthy.

For the first time, IFAF has partnered with Playground, a sporting events specialist, to offer an immersive experience to athletes and spectators. Alongside local authorities and Parisian sports stakeholders, the event will offer a high-level tournament, an entertainment village and a reinforced dynamic around the development of flag football in France and Europe. The event is intended to be festive and accessible, with activities for the public and initiatives dedicated to the promotion of flag football among young people and local clubs.

“With the announcement of France as the host country of the EURO FLAG 2025, we are taking another key step in the development of our sport,” said IFAF President Pierre Trochet.

“As we look ahead to the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships and ultimately flag football’s first appearance at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, our continental championships play a crucial role in further accelerating the sport’s global growth and enhancing its appeal, especially to young people and new audiences.

“France will be a fantastic host, where there are already strong teams and passionate fans, who will guarantee an incredible atmosphere.”

Euro Flag 2025 is set to be a thrilling showcase of European flag football talent, with the added excitement of World Championship qualification on the line. May the best team win!
