Local American football derby in the SFFL is going to Frogs

The first match of the second round of the Slovenian Flag Football League was played against the city rivals Ljubljana Killer Bees. Last year, both derbies were won by the Killer Bees, one of which was won at the green table, so we entered the third derby with some extra motivation. The coin toss determined that Killer Bees had the right to choose, and they decided to start the match with an offense. Immediately in the first attack, the opposing passer Marko Novak tried with a long pass, which was intercepted by RJ Williamson, so our attackers stepped on the pitch with full confidence and took the lead quickly.

# 9 Darko Mićić continued to score in the endzone of the opponents. He passed for 4 touchdowns, 2 point after conversions for one point and also had a rushing TD. Rookie Aleks Bordon scored his first two touchdowns, suggesting that with his speed and safe hands, he can be an important weapon. Center Lucijan Semprimoznik scored a touchdown and PA1, while attack captain # 23 Žan Ocvirk scored a TD. We also had two comeback players in our team, #88 Matic Gerčar scored PA1, while # 1 Alen Radic is still looking for his way back into the statistics.

The defense played reliably and aggressively. Led by defense captain Aljoša Kous, we managed to eliminate last year's MVP Gregor Hertl, who rarely went without a touchdown in a match. #4 Dejan Godec scored 6 points, Kous and Žiga Strgar had 5 each, Bor Lenarčič scored two points and an intercepted pass, and RJ Williamson had, as already mentioned, an intercepted pass and a tackle.
The result at the last whistle showed 32:8; the only touchdown for the opposing team was scored by the center Filipovič, and 2 points came at the expense of Semprimožnik's mistake, as the ball from the snap ended off the field. A good match in which we showed what we are capable of and entered the season with a 4-0 record.
