Stronghold bowl is taking place in Ljubljana

The Stronghold bowl is not just a classic sporting event. It's so much more!

The project aims to bring together different countries, cities, and their castles and history in one place, in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. The Stronghold bowl will host eight teams (we included) from all over the Flag football world every year, and the weekend tournament in the mentioned sport, which will most likely become an Olympic sport in 2028, will have its first performance between 8 July 2022 and 10 July 2022, at the playground of the Črnuče Soccer club.

This year, our tournament, previously named Errea Bowl, will host 8 teams, Ljubljana Frogs and 7 guest teams from all around Europe and this time, also from outside Europe.

The 8 participating teams will be playing each other, 2x20 minutes IFAF rules. 2 games will be played on Friday, 3 games on Saturday, and 3 on Sunday. 1st and 2nd placed teams are playing finals, 3rd and 4th for the medal glory and so on. We will try to provide as many referees as possible, so you will not have to referee yourselves and that you can get well-deserved rest between matches.

The participation fee this year is 200 EUR and is non-refundable (you get your money back only in case of COVID-related cancellation). If you want to ref by yourself the participation is 50 EUR. The participation fee covers the referees, which will be flown from abroad, live stream and lunch and water at the venue.

We are going to try to book the whole hotel for 40 EUR per person per night with breakfast (hopefully even dinner), but we can't promise anything right now. We will do our best to book a hotel as close to the venue as possible.

As mentioned above, all the games will be filmed (if something else does not happen) and posted on YT and this year, the games will also be live-streamed, so your fans back home can watch you play in real-time.

We will also provide MVP awards for players and team awards for the first three teams, everybody else is getting a goodie bag, so nobody is leaving Slovenia empty-handed.

As for the side activities, there will be a small press conference for the captains of all the teams and we will organize a tour around Ljubljana so you can go sightseeing and discover our beautiful capital city. After the tournament, there will also be a party, with plenty of local craft beer.

Everything will be organized in accordance with the health protocols and COVID-19 restrictions that will be in place at that time. We will inform you regularly about the changes in Slovenia, but right now it is hard to say what will happen by July. Hopefully, there will not be any complications and we will have a care-free tournament.

The project intends to connect and cooperate with various non-profit organizations and local communities, which will take care of the diverse events at the event and for the further development and cooperation, and recognition of sports in Slovenia. We want to include as many young people within our club and the local community as possible who will gain experience organizing the project, cooperation, and other skills that will come in handy in life. Bypassing on knowledge and skills, we want to help our players and young people outside the club to build a good foundation on which they can continue to build on their own and, in this way, more easily move into adult life.

One way the world economy can strengthen the economy is to link sport and tourism. We believe that sports tourism is not as crucial as it could be. Because we think that we can operate on a professional level as an amateur sports club, we will organize the second sports event in flag football. Errea bowl (now Stronghold) last year hosted about 120 players from Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Croatia, Ukraine, and this year we want to invite clubs from England, Mexico, and the United States.

For all tournament participants on Friday night, we would organize tours of Ljubljana, where we would present the history of the city, attractions, and hidden corners of our capital. In this way, we want to show that Slovenia is a geographically and culturally ideal destination for foreign guests. something for everyone, regardless of their purpose of visit. During the event, various stalls will be set up, where teams will present themselves with multiple brochures and tell themselves something about the history of their city and their castle. There will also be stalls where you will be able to display your business as well.

In addition to the poster above campaign, communication will also occur via video content, PR campaigns, and activities via social networks and via google advertising. As we emphasize promotion and advertising in the club, we want to participate in this campaign at SOF and Sport for the best marketing campaign for non-profit organizations.

As part of the project, we also plan to conduct free training for all non-profit organizations. We will pass on knowledge about running a non-profit club, raising funds, and organizing a promotion to give the club recognition, which is crucial. Last year we organized free training for coaches, judges, and leaders of non-profit organizations, where we passed on our knowledge and examples of good practice. According to the numbers we achieve, we believe that we are an excellent example of running an amateur sports club.
